Wedding Update

  • I ordered my wedding dress on Wednesday!!! I'm so freaking excited! It will be UPS-ed to my parents house by the middle of January, just enough time to get any alterations done and for me to find proper shoes. Because as we ALL know, the shoes are the mose vital part of any ensamble. :) I'm thinking about these...any opinions? :) B's laughing at me because I'm even thinking about shoes yet...but it's less than three months away!
  • 77 days to be exact.
  • B's parents are being incredibly difficult. The most minor of their difficult-ness: they're insisting that they can only make our family party if we hold it the night of, which is not really practical. Maybe if we held it the night before...hmmm...we're already bucking tons of traditions, we might as well, right? It's an idea at least, and then we wouldn't have to stress about being back from LA in time for the party that night, dealing with holiday weekend traffic, the inevitable accidents, etc...
  • We're having the perfect wedding for us, I'm thrilled with everything we have planned, except for two things. We can't afford flowers, and I really want some. We're reasearching alternatives, but even semi-real looking artificial flowers cost almost as much as the real thing...ideas? We also really can't afford what I want even more than flowers, a professional photographer. My uncle(s) do a fine job, but their work just isn't my taste. This isn't something we can get around, though, I've looked and the photographers I like in the LA area charge upwards of $1000 just for a couple hours shooting, and that doesn't include any prints or negatives. :( We'll be happy with what we have, but if I had all the money in the world...

One non-wedding thing: I'm graduating two weeks from today!! Or at least walking...we'll see if I have to make up a certain class or two. :(

Perfect

I just realized I never wrote about getting my actual engagement ring from B! I got it the 15th, the day after he left for Oregon.

I got my real ring Saturday! APPARENTLY, there was a plot. :) B ordered the ring, but it wouldn't be ready till Saturday, so he came and talked to my roommate M on Thursday and got her to agree to get me to the jewelry store on Saturday about 1 without my knowing where we were going or why. So first we were going to go look at pants, and then we were going to go to Coldstone and get ice cream. So we walked down there (it was a gloriously beautiful day!), and we're at the corner there by Jack-in-the-Box, and M bursts out "I can't stand it anymore! We're not going to Coldstone! We're going to pick up your ring!" "Oh...WAIT, WHAT!?" So she pulls this little folder thing out of her bag and we go into Jensen's and they give me my ring, and we come out, and I try to call B, and he doesn't pick up. He was still traveling and didn't have service, and didn't get to call me back until late. I had no idea, no clue at all about what was going on. I would have been happy with the little band he gave me several weeks ago, the little piece of a flute, but I love this ring even more. I know how he sacrificed to get it for me, and it's so beautiful and perfect, just a little narrow band of tiny diamonds.

Yeah, about that...

I pretty much failed NaBloPoMo. I guess that's what happens when you get sick and have a ton of schoolwork to do the same week your fiance is leaving for the next three months.

B's leaving today for home, at 3:30. I meet his parents at 2:00 (yikes). I'm in class all day, and he's sitting in the hall right outside so we can see each other as much as possible today. I'm going to miss him so much. I'll probably cry myself to sleep today, probably while wearing his sweatshirt. We'll talk all the time, but we won't see each other till just a few days before our wedding. I'll miss him. He'll miss me. It's going to be hard, but we'll get through it, and as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. We'll appriciate being together more.

More Pictures

Pictures from an informational slideshow about the library I work at. These pictures were taken over the summer, they're me and my coworker Hannah (and the security guard Melissa). They're a little bit of a hyperbole about what we do, but it's fairly accurate, considering...

I don't get the clowns in the video, but I love the song.

On Ignorance*

It's no secret that I supported Barack Obama in this election. I'm thrilled he won, but I know that a lot of people around me don't agree. I'm in the Blue minority in this sea of Red that is eastern Idaho, and especially BYU-Idaho. I've been accused the last few days of voting for him out of rebellion, because I'm "just afraid of looking racist", etc, etc. I've been told that Obama should be shot, that they're praying for his assassination, and that I could get excommunicated from the LDS church for voting for him. All of this was said out of complete ignorance and prejudice. I don't care what your political affiliation is, whether you wanted Obama, McCain, Nader, or Mickey Mouse to be president, the decision was made Tuesday by the beautiful process that is democracy. As American citizens, we must support our next president, and our current president. I'm not saying you have to like him (goodness knows I don't like Bush), and I'm definitely not saying you can't voice your opinion about him or his politics, by all means, do, that's what freedom of speech is all about, but don't you DARE say that the president or the president-elect needs to be shot. And if you were eligible to participate in the process, and didn't, you gave up your right to an opinion and thereby lost the privilege of complaint.

*My last political statement for a while. Like maybe until tomorrow. I can't make any promises. We'll see how much people annoy me tomorrow.

I voted, did you?

I am SO proud to be an American right now. SO proud to be part of history right now.

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!

If you are a United States citizen, get out there and VOTE! My very wise grandfather told me once that if you don't vote, you loose the privilege of complaint (and yes, complaining is a privilege) about the way the nation is being run into the ground, or whatever your particular complaint is. So go vote. Now. Right now. For whoever your little heart desires. I'm not going to tell you who to vote for, just VOTE!

More on this later.

I'm supposed to be sleeping

I always type supposed with two S's. Like this: suppossed. It just looks more right.

I've been instructed to go directly to bed. Do not pass go, do not talk to my roommates (B knows me too well, but it's a good thing), do not get online (but I had to blog!). B just left for the night because I was falling asleep (fell asleep) while he was reading Zen and the Art of Archery to me, and we've agreed to not falling asleep while we're together because it can be a step down a path towards places we don't want to go. I'm so tired lately, I think I'm getting sick. I also think my stress level is impacting this exhaustion.

NaBloPoMo

I'm attemping National Blog Posting Month again this year. We'll see how well it goes. Life is going to be pretty insane around here the next 41 days. 41 days till graduation. That is, if I pull my grade up in my drugs class. I hate that classes I hate, I bomb. It's not good.

Anyways. Life. Umm, B's sister hates me, as, I believe, his parents also do. B and I are still going ahead with our plans, because we're sure what we're doing is right, even if they don't agree. We're doing our engagement pictures this afternoon (in two hours, gack! I've got to do something with my hair! And figure out what I'm going to wear!). One of my roommates from last fall is taking them, and she promises to make us do some crazy stuff, which I'm fine with, because I think a good 95% of all engagement/wedding pictures are boring. B's a little camera shy, but he'll do the crazy if I ask him to.

My roommates are doing their best to make my life miserable, most of them.

I MIGHT MIGHT have a job for post-graduation. I have a lead, an invitation to send a resume, and several connections. AND it's actually work in my field (ish, I'd probably mostly be doing filing, etc, but it would be experiance!). Here's the catch, it's in Ridgecrest. But B and i discussed it, and I'm going to send in my resume, and if I get the job, we'll be moving to Ridgecrest. I never thought I'd move back there, but this opportunity is too good to pass up. I'll give more details if it comes to fruition.
